Giovanna Ewbank describes her son’s sensory syndrome diagnosis: “An absurd mistake”

In conversation with Fernanda Paes Leme and Manoel Soares on the Quem Pode podcast, Pod, last Tuesday 24. Giovanna Ewbank didn’t hold back tears as she opened up about a health condition affecting her 8yearold son, Bless. In her opinion, disclosure of the situation is a way to make it clear to all parents the importance of observing and understanding their children.

During the pandemic, the actress remarked on her son being “very fluffy” and found some of the boy’s attitudes odd. “I was starting to think he might have some degree of autism or something. I started looking for doctors to understand what it was (…) until I found a doctor in São Paulo who diagnosed him sensory syndrome. He hears more than all of us, he feels more than all of us, he smells more than all of us,” he said.

Giovanna regretted not understanding him when he was complaining about something like that, like walking past the kitchen and talking about the strong smell of onions, or bothering to touch the grass and that Sound of flies heard in the distance. “When I saw the diagnosis, it was absurd guilt! We had to understand, observe, adapt,” he said.

Despite the initial complexities, the actress affirmed that Bless is currently “living wonderfully well” with sensory syndrome. In conclusion, she emphasized the importance of her observation and that of her husband Bruno Gagliassoas well as the view of several doctors, for the correct diagnosis and understanding that “it was not fresh”.
