Shaken by the news of the death of his colleague and friend Paul Houde, commentator Michel Bergeron has only good words for the man with whom he worked for almost 50 years.
Mr. Bergeron particularly remembers the simplicity but also the versatility of Paul Houde.
“He was a good communicator, that’s obvious. He was an exceptional host and an outstanding actor,” says the former Nordiques coach.
“He was a genius in his field,” he adds.
Michel Bergeron particularly remembers being able to appreciate the full extent of Paul Houde's knowledge as they covered the Olympics together.
“When I saw Paul talk about athletics, about artistic competitions, I was stunned because I said to myself: It can't be that a man is as knowledgeable about different areas of sport as he is!” he says.
For Michel Bergeron, Paul Houde's genius is beyond doubt.
“He knew everything he knew and helped so many people he helped in his life…It is often said that he had all the qualities required when someone leaves…but Paul had”
