Felipe Simas was hospitalized this Thursday (25) in Rio de Janeiro after feeling unwell and having difficulty seeing. Heitor Montebello's interpreter in Fuzuê was diagnosed with optic neuritis in the right eye, when the patient experiences temporary loss of vision. The actor from Globo's Seven O'Clock soap opera has been released on medical grounds but will continue treatment.
He posted a video on social media in which he appeared in the hospital bed and reflected on his 31st birthday, which will be on Friday (26). “Yesterday I received very good news about work. And today I am here. Life’s uncertainties bring me closer to God,” he said.
“The words of the Way such as: 'Be strong and courageous in everything, be grateful… Be firm in the faith…' brighten my steps and calm my thoughts,” said the artist, without mentioning the diagnosis of the disease.
Mariana Uhlmann, his wife, revealed the reason for his hospitalization on social media. According to the journalist, Simas returned from work on Sunday (21) with a blurry spot in the middle of his right eye and showed a color change on the limb, in addition, he saw darker in the defective eye.
During imaging tests, the ophthalmologist found symptoms of optic neuritis. He has been released but will continue to undergo treatment. Felipe Simas returned to the hospital this Thursday (25) to undergo further tests and receive medication.
Mariana said that neuritis could indicate other diseases. “It could be an infection caused by a virus or an immunological disease. We were in a race against time,” she explained.
Ana Sang, the actor's mother, informed Quem that her son is fine. “Felipe felt discomfort in his right eye, a color change and a spot in his vision. He consulted the ophthalmologist and she ordered an MRI and confirmed optic neuritis. The neurologist ordered further tests and he had to be taken to the hospital for examination! “He is fine,” she explained.
