The house where Jeff Bezos founded online retail giant Amazon is for sale in the US and the property's new owner will own a piece of internet history. However, he will have to pay $2.3 million (approximately R$11.4 million) for this.
Bezos, one of the richest men in the world, and his thenwife MacKenzie Scott rented this singlestory, threebedroom house near Seattle, USA, in the mid1990s when they began selling books online The residence's garage was a type of office.
“Welcome to the Birthplace of Amazon Jeff Bezos founded Amazon in the humble garage of this West Bellevue home in 1994,” the sales listing reads. “It has a huge great room, a fantastic granite kitchen and natural light from the skylights, creating a bright and inviting environment.”
The 143 m² house was “meticulously reconstructed” in 2001, according to the real estate agent’s listing, so there isn’t much left of the Bezos era. However, according to the photos, there is a replica of the original “amazon.com” sign that Bezos had back in the garage. (see picture below).

According to the company's history, the garage contained only a computer, basic office supplies and a desk. At first only books were sold.
Amazon states that the first book sold was “Fluid Concepts and Creative Analogies: Computer Models Of The Fundamental Mechanisms Of Thought” (1996).
But within a few years, Big Tech companies have become the default option for online shoppers around the world, increasing their current market cap to a whopping $1.6 trillion.
