The “arrival” of the euro fundamentally changed the face of money for almost all European citizens, who, despite a kind of adjustment process that lasted several years, almost suddenly used new coins and banknotes, which today are shared by over 330 million citizens. This has led to a kind of “intolerance” on the part of the more conservative sections of the population, but gradually the single currency also began to gain acceptance from the point of view of habits. From the point of view of collectors, the new monetary editions have made lovers happy, especially the 2 euro coins, which are even more varied than the others because of the commemorative coins.
Collectors have started hoarding emissions, particularly those originating from micro-states like the Vatican.

The Vatican City actually emits its own emissions despite not being part of the European Union, based on agreements previously signed with the latter. They are all significantly rarer and more interesting than average coins, as can be seen from the 2005 issues.
In fact, in 2005 the Vatican issued various €2 coins, including the “standard coin” bearing the profile face of Pope John Paul II. A 2-euro coin from 2005 with its profile is worth up to 60 euros with perfect care.
With the death of the Pope in that particular year, the Holy See also developed another €2 coin, known as the Sede Vacante, bearing the coat of arms of Cardinal Camerlengo and the emblem of the Apostolic Chamber. Very rare edition, it can fetch up to 180 euros.
2005 was also an interesting year from the side of commemorative coins for the Vatican, since the 2-euro commemorative coin was issued on the occasion of the 20th World Youth Day, recognizable by the presence of the Cologne Cathedral on one of the sides. The maximum value easily exceeds 200 euros, up to 220 euros.
