It seems that the Golden Globes may have presented more than just awards this week
It seems the messy Golden Globes has seen more than awards this week, as a number of nominees in attendance will miss tonight’s Critics Choice Awards after testing positive for Covid-19.
Jamie Lee Curtis, who attended Tuesday’s Golden Globes, was the first to announce on Friday that she would not be attending the Critics Choice Awards after testing positive – where she was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for All at Once – and at other awards season events.
“Fuck COVID! Unfortunately, this chief cheerleader won’t be attending the weekend’s celebrations at all to cheer on her friends and co-workers. Living on life’s terms. I’m glad there are all these home tests that I didn’t go to [American Film Institute] Eat lunch and spread my germs,” Curtis wrote on social media. “Stay safe out there folks.”
It was revealed on Sunday that Banshees of Inisherin actors Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell (who won Best Actor – Musical/Comedy at the Golden Globes) would also miss the Critics Choice Awards after catching Covid, writes the Hollywood Reporter.
While it’s now impossible to contact every actor to determine when and where they were exposed to Covid-19, concerns have arisen that the mostly mask-free Golden Globes may have been a superspreader event for the highly contagious “Kraken” variant, the rapidly developing dominant variety in the USA

Assuming Farrell already (unknowingly) had Covid at Tuesday’s Golden Globes, the startling number of celebrities he may have unmasked is revealed in a Getty Images search: Brad Pitt, Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Coolidge, Ke Huy Quan, Julia Garner, Ana de Armas (who presented him with the Golden Globe) and the entire cast and crew of Best Picture winner The Banshees of Inisherin were all with Farrell at the ceremony.
Thankfully, as of press time, only Curtis, Gleeson, and Farrell have called in sick to the Critics Choice Awards so far, though that could change by the show.
