Iran executes four people convicted of spying for Israel G1

Iran executed by hanging this Friday (29) four people three men and one woman who were sentenced to death for spying for Israel, the Iranian Judiciary news agency reported.

Vafa Hanareh, Aram Omari, Rahman Parhazo and Nasim Namazi were sentenced to death for “war against God” and “corruption on earth” as well as for “collaboration with the Zionist regime”.

The executions took place in the northwestern province of Iran in western Azerbaijan.

The group is said to have carried out “important actions against the security of the country” under the direction of the Mossad [a agência de inteligência israelense]”.

On December 16, 2023, a man who was also sentenced to death for his work for the Mossad was executed in SistanBaluchestan province in southeastern Iran.

According to human rights groups such as Amnesty International, the Islamic Republic executes more people each year than any other country except China.

Iran executed more than 600 people in October 2023, the highest number in eight years, according to a calculation by Norwaybased human rights group Iran Human Rights (IHR).
