Juan Luis Guerra concert suspended in Lima

The second concert that Juan Luis Guerra wanted to party in Lima this Wednesday, was suspended after complaints were received against the organization for exceeding the capacity limit of the concert that the Dominican artist gave on his first date this Tuesday at the local Arena Perú.

For Tuesday night’s concert, the Arena Peru stadium had authorization to accommodate 9,000 people, taking into account the security measures that the show had.

“Yesterday, however, the organizers allowed more than 14,000 people to enter,” Ronald Rojas, head of Surco municipality’s inspection department, said on Channel N after he put up signs warning of the stadium’s closure.

He explained that at the time of admission, there are control personnel who count the number of visitors to the concert, but that they cannot prevent the organizers from admitting excess audience.

He pointed out that they had urged them not to allow any more entries as there was “looming danger” yesterday, noting that many people were still excluded.

He also said that the relevant sanctions against the organizers had already been implemented and that this additional measure of closing the stadium was taking place today “so that people’s lives are not endangered”.

“If (yesterday) the rule was already broken then there definitely has to be not only the sanction from the court but also the corrective measure and in this case it is the temporary closure (of the stadium),” said Rojas.

Numerous pictures, videos and testimonials from visitors to the concert were published on Tuesday night Juan Luis Guerra denouncing the limited public space and problems in leaving the site.

This incident is not the only incident that has been reported concerts in Lima as in recent weeks performances by artists such as Daddy Yankee and Bad Bunny have seen thousands of tickets denounced as fake and there have also been thousands of resales leaving many people without access.
