Executive producer Rick McKenna announced the special last month, saying, “It’s fascinating and delightful to see how audiences around the world still love Kath & Kim after 20 years.”
He continued, “It was great fun getting the team back together, lots of laughs and we look forward to sharing it soon.”
“Ever since I was a young lad, I’ve admired Kath Day-Knight’s elegance and poise — and her clownish glamor,” added Angus Ross, Chief Content Officer, Entertainment Programming, Seven.

It comes after the show, which aired from 2002 to 2007, is in pre-production for a reboot.
However, the Melbourne home used in the original series – also known as Chateau Kath – has since been demolished. The owners decided it no longer suited their family.
The hit series spawned the 2005 TV movie Da Kath & Kim Code and the 2012 feature film Kath & Kimderella.
