Katy Perry says she made a ‘big mistake’ by missing out on a chance to work with future superstar Billie Eilish: ‘I was like, ‘Meh, boring”
Katy Perry spoke on Friday about one of the biggest mistakes she’s made in her career.
During a question-and-answer session during a private event for radio station KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, the 38-year-old singer admitted she missed the opportunity to work with then-young singer Billie Eilish because she found her song “boring”.
The Roar singer, who shares daughter Daisy with fiancé Orlando Bloom, appeared at the event in green leather trousers with a green and white labyrinth-design cropped sweater.
Big mistake: Katy Perry admitted she made a “big mistake” when she missed an opportunity to work with an up-and-coming artist a few years ago because she thought her song was “boring”.
Her raven locks were styled in an updo with long tendrils in front to frame her face.
Holding the mic, she explained to the audience that a friend once sent me an email that said, “Hey, check out this new artist. I would really like to work with her because she worked with me on Unsub [Records].’
“It was a song called Ocean Eyes, and it was just a blonde girl, and I was like, ‘Meh, boring.’

She then joked, “Don’t let that get on the internet.”
That was in 2016. Since then, Billie has won multiple Grammy Awards, as well as a Golden Globe Award and an Oscar for her song No Time To Die, from Daniel Craig’s swan song as James Bond in the thriller of the same name.
Mistake: Katy could hear the amazed audience gasp as she revealed she missed the opportunity to work with the one and only Billie Eilish, saying it turned out to be a “big mistake, big mistake”.

Now that the cat is out of the bag, Katy and Billie might be able to work together when the California Gurls artist resumes her residency in Las Vegas in February.
