Being a very busy producer now, Charles Lafortune never thought of leaving his place in animation on La Voix. “It’s rare to be part of a great success that lasts so long and becomes a tradition,” he said in an interview. It’s precious. There’s also something magical about seeing people recognize their talent. I can’t get enough of friends and family reacting when chairs turn. I have this closeness to them and it’s like a “rush” of happiness.

The philosophy of the trade fair also corresponds to its own values. “Celebrating talent rather than personality or strategies is important. My singing competition is the best because the coaches don’t see the candidates when they pick them. There is ethnic, musical, and cross-generational representation, and we continue to discover amazing new talent.

If his daily life as a producer is to make decisions and decide, he becomes a simple presenter on the set of “La Voix”. “I don’t decide anything, but I give my opinion on everything,” he joked. I’m trying not to be too much the mother-in-law, but I do offer ideas. For example, I said that it has never happened that an animator intervened instead of a trainer to press the button. But I was told it will never happen! I tried it myself.”

During the taping of the blind auditions, Charles Lafortune also witnessed the great complicity that unites the coaches of this new season.

“Marc leaves with a lead. He’s always taken good care of his candidates, he’s really invested. Corneille, who I thought was the quietest, is very active and has good arguments. Mario Pelchat combines with popular success and he is really impressive. He is also the most emotional coach. Finally, Marjo is certainly the most instinctive. It’s the easiest way to approach candidates.

From the first broadcast of the Blind Auditions this Sunday, viewers will notice several changes.

“Many visual elements have been added, such as lighting that accompanies the candidate as they walk up the stage before their audition, and an overhead light system that swirls before the song begins. The interior has also been refined a bit and the musicians are more present. We will see them more often during blind auditions.

Charles Lafortune’s animation style will also be different, starting with a solo interview with the candidate. “Only when we are at the time of the hearing will I speak to the family. It allows me to create a different atmosphere. I also have a camera that comes to me during the audition and I can comment on what just happened, give my opinion or follow up on a coach’s comments. I will have greater complicity with viewers at home. I love that.”

The new season of “La Voix” begins this Sunday, January 15 at 7 p.m. on TVA.
