Lewis Capaldi kicked off his Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent Tour on Saturday night at Leeds’ First Direct Arena.

The 26-year-old singer looked trendy in a cream jacket, which he wore over a matching tee and trousers while performing in front of his adoring fans.

He wore his light brown locks in a messy hairdo and threw his guitar around his neck for the first of a string of UK gigs which will end in Exeter on February 2nd.

On Friday, Lewis celebrated his fourth UK number one single with his latest track Pointless by cracking some very cheeky jokes.

The Scottish hitmaker took to Instagram to celebrate the success, sharing photos of himself licking and hugging number one shaped balloons.

Sitting in a hotel room decorated with giant blue and pink metallic balloons in the shape of the number one, Lewis cheered as he held up the UK Singles Chart trophy.

The singer captioned his post: “WE DID IT TEAM!!!! 4 British number 1!!!! happy to finally have as many number 1’s as STI’s x.’

“Pointless” is the second single from Lewis’ forthcoming second studio album Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, which is due out in May.

When his fourth chart-topper was confirmed, the crooner said on BBC Radio 1: “Thank you if you have streamed, downloaded or listened to Pointless in any way. The support was amazing. It really means a lot.

“This is my fourth UK number 1, I’ve got the same amount of number 1s as B*Witched now… so damn good if you ask me!

“I know there is a cost of living crisis so thank you for spending your money on my music. I appreciate it. I got myself some balloons and I’m going to have a blast.”

It comes after Lewis won his third number one single in the UK in September with his comeback track ‘Forget Me’.

He said at the time: “This goes to all of you, the people who love me and especially my enemies. May you all perish in flames knowing nothing but eternal suffering.’

The star previously peaked at number one with his 2019 hit “Someone You Loved” and 2020’s “Before You Go.”

In September, Lewis went public with his diagnosis of Tourette’s syndrome and said he didn’t want fans to think he “did cocaine or anything.”

The hitmaker explained: “I was diagnosed with Tourette’s. I wanted to talk about it because I didn’t want people to think I was on cocaine or anything.”

Lewis is learning to live with the symptoms of the condition and the chart-topper has even had botox injections to control his tics.

He told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “My shoulder twitches when I’m excited, happy, nervous or stressed. It’s something I live with. It’s not as bad as it looks.”

Lewis also addressed the issue during an Instagram Live session with his fans, when he shared, “It’s a new thing. I didn’t really learn much about it.

“I got botox in my shoulder to keep it from moving, but I’m constantly learning new ways to deal with it. Some days it’s more painful than others, other times it’s quite uncomfortable, but I think that’s about it.”

Lewis has been concerned about his health in recent years and admits the diagnosis “makes so much sense” now.

The star, who released his debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent in 2019, said, “When they said to me, ‘We think you have Tourette,’ I said, ‘You know what, that makes so much sense” .

“Looking back at my 2018 interviews, I see I can do it.”
