She captioned the post, “This continues to be the greatest gift I have given myself.” I remain so grateful for another year of growth, growing pains, lessons, joys and self-realization.

“The opportunity to perform as myself and be greeted with so much warmth and acceptance is not something I take for granted.”

“The interactions, conversations and moments of vulnerability with people I know, with people I knew, with people I have hurt, with people who have hurt me, with strangers and even with people on the internet have made a difference in my life given so much.” Color and meaning.

“These experiences were my favorite takeaway from last year.” To everyone I came into contact with… thank you from the bottom of my heart.

“If you are struggling, please know that you are not alone and you do not have to walk this journey alone.”

“There is no right or wrong way to heal and it is deeply personal and unique to each of us.” My only advice is to stay open-hearted and curious and find the people who see and support you. It gets better. Take it moment by moment.'

Lucy's milestone comes after she recalled drinking her first alcoholic drink at the age of 12 before finally getting sober at 30.

On the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, the actress described how she “passed out” while drunk while vacationing in Florida.

While she continued to drink off and on until she was 18, she finally realized in her early 20s that she had a drinking problem and sought help in rehab.

She recalled: “The first time I drank alcohol…I was probably 12 or 13?” I was on vacation in Florida…and we drank Green Apple Pucker. I remember my very first experience with alcohol was the same as the one at the end.

“I fainted – when I was 12.” “I can't remember what happened, I threw up, I felt very sick and I remember being so distraught when I realized what had happened” , she said.

“I thought, 'Oh my God, my mom is going to be so disappointed in me,'” Lucy recalled.

As a teenager, Lucy was aware that her drinking habits were abnormal.

“I remember feeling ashamed after every experience with alcohol because my drinking was never normal.” “Literally every time I drank… it was very clear that I was drinking to escape something , from a young age,” she said.

While she sought help at age 23, it wasn't until age 32 that she finally gave up drinking.

“I went into rehab when I was 23. I don't think anyone was on the show [Pretty Little Liars] knew. And it was my choice too. That was a pivotal moment in my life. [But] “I wasn’t ready to stop drinking, which is why I didn’t get sober until I was 32,” she said.

“I tried so many different things: rehab, outpatient, inpatient, trauma center, therapy, medication, you name it. And there was also a very strong desire to stop,” she said.

“Without COVID, I may not have gotten sober — or committed to it.”

Things were bubbly for Lucy last year when she appeared on The Diary of a CEO podcast with Steven Bartlett, where she spoke candidly about going to a “dark place” amid her struggles with alcohol.

Lucy said: “Sometimes you have to go to a dark place to get to that point… It's dark, disgusting and scary.”

“I wish I could go back and tell my sixteen-year-old self, 'Buckle up, girl.' We're going to go through a lot.”

Of her relationship with alcohol, she said: “And then the coping mechanisms were incredibly self-destructive.”

“I've been working on getting sober since I was 20…I just held on to the belief that the real Lucy came out when she drank.”

“I tried to change for my mother, I tried to change for my career. “One of my best friends died of alcoholism and that still hasn't gotten me sober…None of this is working.”

She added: “Alcohol is not the problem, the problem is this feeling inside me.”
