The ship left the port of Santos on the São Paulo coast with thousands of passengers and artists and headed to Rio de Janeiro for New Year's Eve. MSC Cruzeiros reported that in the early hours of this Saturday (30) a passenger was reported missing while the ship was heading to Angra dos Reis.
“A thorough search was carried out on board and it was confirmed that the guest intentionally jumped overboard.” According to the company, two support boats searched for the victim for several hours, but the guest has not yet been found.
“The incident was immediately reported to the relevant authorities and the Coast Guard cleared the ship to continue sailing.” The Coast Guard will continue the search.

Due to the case, singer Alexandre Pires canceled the show on the ship. In a statement released by Alexandre Pires' team, the singer regretted what happened and asked God to comfort everyone's hearts. “My condolences go out to the family and friends of the person who fell from the balcony of their cabin into the sea during the MSC Preziosa cruise.”
According to the statement, the person fell around 12:30 a.m., half an hour before the artist's performance began. “Out of respect for the victim and the rescue work, we spoke to the organizers and agreed not to hold the show, which was scheduled to start at 1am. We were not yet on stage when this tragic event occurred.”

Previously, the group Paralamas do Sucesso and the musician Vini Netto performed on the ship. Shows by Wesley Safadão, Ana Castela, Gustavo Mioto, Leo Santana, Xande de Pilares and Durval Lellys are planned in the coming days.

The New Year's Eve on Alto Mar cruise takes place on the ship MSC Preziosa, the same ship that received the “Ney on Alto Mar”. The passengers disembarked at the port of Santos on Friday afternoon (29) and disembarkation is scheduled for January 2, also at the Santos pier.
