Man Visits Hospital With Stomach Pain In India And Doctors Are Shocked By Discovery

Man finds 60 objects in his stomach

A man who had been suffering from stomach pain for two years shocked doctors who treated him at Moga Medicity Hospital in Punjab, India. It turned out that the patient had more than 60 objects in his stomach, including household items, buttons and even headphones.

According to the New York Post, 35yearold Kuldeep Singh went to a clinic with a high fever and severe stomach pain. Doctors examined the area and made the alarming discovery. “During an Xray, we found lockets, chains, nuts, bolts, headphones and many other items in the stomach,” said Ajmer Singh Kalra, director of the hospital.

For medics, the pain the man felt was due to the shape of some of the objects he swallowed. “He sustained severe injuries on his stomach when he ate sharp objects,” Kalra said. For this reason, the patient underwent an operation that lasted about three hours.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, Singh was also diagnosed with pica syndrome, also known as allotriophagy, a condition in which the patient “compulsively swallows objects that are not food.” The disorder is more common in young children, pregnant women, people with schizophrenia or people on the autism spectrum.

Although the procedure was successful, the patient is not out of the woods yet. “He is still on artificial ventilation and is in a critical condition,” complained the doctor. According to Jam Press, family members were unaware of the problem.
