The Russian Navy conducted an exercise using an electronic simulation in the Atlantic with a Tsirkon hypersonic missile: This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense this morning, as Tass reports. According to army leaders, the crew of the Admiral Gorshkov frigate “practiced hitting a target simulating an enemy warship at a distance of more than 900 kilometers using a Tsirkon hypersonic missile.”

“The crew of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, operating in the western part of the Atlantictrained to use a hypersonic missile weapon using the computer modeling method,” the ministry said.

“In accordance with the training environment, the Admiral Gorshkov frigate made preparations for an attack with a Tsirkon hypersonic missile on a sea target mimicking an enemy ship at a distance of more than 900 kilometers,” the report continues. “In our case, the electronic launch and the operation of the entire combat crew of the ship confirmed all the characteristics expected from this system and shown during preliminary tests and state trials,” said the commander of the frigate, Igor Krokhmal, in a published video of the Russian Department of Defense.

The Russian frigate Admiral Gorshkov, armed with Tsirkon hypersonic missiles, will take part in a joint exercise with Chinese and South African warships in February, the Russian Defense Ministry announced, as reported by Interfax. The exercise takes place off the coast of South Africa.
