Some establishments' opening hours may change for New Year's Day. Here is an overview.

December 31

For last-minute shopping, most stores, including large grocery stores, will remain open with reduced hours.

However, libraries, permit desks and eco centers will remain closed throughout the day. SAQ branches close their doors at 5:00 p.m.

The Société de transport de Montréal network will operate according to the usual schedule, as will garbage collection, with the exception of some districts where it may be brought forward or postponed.

1um January

Almost everything will be closed. Only essential businesses such as pharmacies, convenience stores, gas stations and certain small businesses remain open.

Malls and large grocery stores will be closed, as will banks and post offices. SAQ and SQDC branches will remain closed until January 2nd.

In the leisure area, the Biodôme, the insectarium, the planetarium and the botanical garden will open to the public at 1 p.m. Cinemas and ski resorts can also welcome customers.

The Société de transport de Montréal network will operate on the public holiday schedule.
