New York, 3 year old child falls from the 26th floor and dies: the police are investigating

Tragedy in New York’s Harlem where a 3-year-old boy fell from the 29th floor of a building in the Taino Towers condominium. The incident happened on American morning and the New York police reported the facts. According to police, agents found the child lying dying on scaffolding on the third floor of the building. Police were notified by a 911 call around 11 a.m. Unfortunately, despite the rush to the nearest hospital, the child did not survive the crash. As usual, the police are now questioning two people who were in the apartment from which the child is said to have fallen at the time of the accident.

“We believe the baby came out of a window, but the exact dynamics are being investigated,” police told the Associated Press. Precisely to avoid such incidents, which unfortunately are not uncommon in New York, or at least have not been for the past few decades, state law has required that the windows of buildings containing three or more apartments be fitted with adequate protection if a child between 3 and 10 years old lives there. It is a preventive measure that serves to avoid this type of tragedy, which has actually declined sharply in recent years. The police must now determine whether and, if so, what types of safety devices were installed on the windows of the apartment from which the child fell.

In addition, the windows of the top floors of skyscrapers are always equipped with a security opening system. Over the years, many children have been victims of domestic accidents of this type, and precisely in order to reduce the risks, forms of prevention in this sense have also been introduced in our country, which, however, as the events in New York have shown, does not always seem to be the case to hand.
