Nick Cordero’s widow Amanda Kloots reflects on first home without him

Amanda Kloots has revealed that she was “terrified of moving into her first home without late husband Nick Cordero” – but feels the actor “moved” her into the new home.

Broadway star Nick died in July 2020 aged just 41 from complications related to Covid, leaving behind his beloved wife Amanda, 40, and their then 13-month-old son Elvis.

Now in May 2021, three-year-old actress Amanda and Elvis moved into a new house in LA, down the street from where they live with Cordero – with poignant touches – including photos of Nick on Elvis’ pillow – to ensure his memory lives on.

“People,” she said, “I love this little house. It feels a lot like Nick put us here. It was as soon as I walked in there were just lots and lots of signs.

“I walk in and the piano is there and there’s all this vinyl. The sun was just coming in and that was the first thing I saw. I used to yell at Nick every day about the vinyl shipments to our New York City apartment that there was no more room for his vinyl.”

Amanda said she made sure the whole house paid tribute to her late husband – which she says would have been his “dream home” as she and Elvis try to “start over” as they move on with life without Nick.

She said: “There’s a beautiful photograph, a painting, upstairs in the hallway. In Elvis’ room there are some pillows with his face printed on them. All those table books are his.”

At the time of Nick’s diagnosis of Covid, the star took to her social media to document the Broadway singer’s journey and health. However, he passed away in July 2020 due to complications.

At the time of his sudden death, Amanda took to her Instagram to share the tragic news and her own “disbelief.”

“God has another angel in heaven now. My dear husband passed away this morning. He was surrounded by his family in love, singing and praying as he gently left this earth.’ Thanking the doctors, the TV personality added, “My heart is broken as I can’t imagine our life without him.”

Amanda and Nick first crossed paths while the two were working on the musical Bullets Over Broadway. The two married in 2017 and welcomed their son, Elvis, two years later.

Since his death in 2020, the actress has kept his memory alive by sharing past photos and videos of him on her social media.

In October, Amanda revealed that Elvis asked “where his father is” after his tragic death two years ago.

The talk co-host opened up about her grief since the loss of her husband, Nick Cordero, on iHeartRadio’s The Important Things With Bobbi Brown, which aired earlier Tuesday.

The dancer explained that her son still remembers his father, adding, “I have to face his grief now after dealing with mine.”

“I feel like that part of the grief is going to start where I have to face his grief now after dealing with mine for the past two years,” she explained on the show.

The actress went on to explain that it wasn’t an easy road to “helping Elvis understand at this young age where dad is, why dad doesn’t live with us, what happened to dad. And it was really, really, really hard.’

The fitness trainer explained that although she was a little new to the conversation, when Elvis asks her where his father is, she replies, “Dada lives in heaven with Jesus but he is around us all the time”.

“And we can always talk to him, we can listen to him sing and he’s watching over us all the time.” That’s what I’ve said so far,” added the talented star.

Amanda also said, to her own surprise, that Elvis still has memories of his father, Nick.

“Which is crazy, I don’t know if it’s because we watch so many of Nick’s videos together or because I talk about Nick so much,” the star explained. “But he does it, he says it and I love it. But it surprises me.”

The dancer explained during the interview that September had been quite difficult for her, explaining that it was both her husband’s birthday and their fifth wedding anniversary.

In early May, the professional dancer opened up about her grief over the years during an interview on CBS Mornings.

“I miss having someone to come home to and I miss having someone to laugh with,” Amanda explained.

“Each time I tell this story again, it’s amazing how helpful it is in this grieving journey. Grief doesn’t stop,” she continued.
