Bus driver hit by airgun in Toronto

Oncoming bus causes accident in Toronto, 12 injured –

Twelve people were injured Tuesday morning when a Mississauga Transit bus backed up near Toronto Pearson Airport.

The accident occurred around 11 a.m. on Highway 27 near Dixon Street, just a stone's throw from the airport property.

“According to initial findings, the bus appeared to be traveling south […] as he crossed the road into the northbound lane. At that point he crashed into a vehicle and then continued into a ditch,” Sergeant Murray Campbell said in a press conference with local media.

There were 13 passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. Ten of them had to be transported to hospitals for treatment of injuries that were classified as minor.

The bus driver suffered more serious injuries, but they were not life-threatening.

The driver who was involuntarily involved in the collision was also injured, but his life is not in danger.

“It could have been a lot worse,” Sergeant Campbell said, noting that no passengers were seriously injured.

Why the bus left the lane and went in the opposite direction remained unclear throughout the day.
