Paloma Faith has described her split from ex Leyman Lahcine as “the worst thing that has happened to me”.
The 42-year-old singer appears on The Jonathan Ross Show this week and opens up about the therapeutic process of writing her most personal album yet.
“They're all personal, but it's just that the worst thing that happened to me happened and I wrote an album about it,” she explained of her upcoming sixth album, The Glorification of Sadness.
“It chronicles the stages of grief I went through when I separated from my partner of ten years and father of my two children,” she added.
Paloma married French artist Leyman, 36, in 2017 before confirming they would split in 2022 after nine years together.

Speaking about her relationship with her ex-partner, Paloma revealed: “We're really good.” “We're doing really well and I think it's as good as it can be.”
“I don't pretend to be like Gwyeth Paltrow, I don't consciously disconnect. “Sometimes it's terrible, but we get by and I think we're doing a lot better than some couples who are married.”
“My observation is that our relationship is so good now because I don't expect anything from him and vice versa.”
As inspiration for her new album, Paloma reveals what her ex-partner thinks about the breakup: “He knows what he decided on.”

“He was a little offended. But he knows now that we are together forever – that means the absolutely eternal thing is that our love came together and produced these children, it is infinite. We are in a different situation. “I dedicated the album to him and my children to say that this is infinite love.”
The 42-year-old singer and actress appeared on the How To Fail With Elizabeth Day podcast this week where she revealed that she was on the set of the 2019 drama Pennyworth, in which she plays sociopath Bet Sykes had suffered a miscarriage.
She explained that while filming a fight scene, she realized she was having a miscarriage, but insisted on continuing filming for fear of losing her job, saying, “I would just go without a job and without a viable pregnancy.” Go home.”

The star, who shares two children with Leyman, also reported that he suffered a traumatic ectopic pregnancy following IVF treatment, with the ectopic pregnancy damaging a fallopian tube and affecting her fertility.
She continued: “The first time I had an ectopic pregnancy, then my fertility went down because a fallopian tube was damaged. “The second time it worked, so I was lucky because I actually had two viable pregnancies quite quickly.”
On keeping her miscarriage a secret at work, Paloma said: “[The miscarriage] started at work and it was a fight scene on Pennyworth. I just thought: It's gone, so I might as well keep doing what I was doing. I had to go to the toilet 9 times…
“I told them I ate something bad last night because I knew they would walk me home if I told them.” I didn't want to. I would just go home with no job and no viable pregnancy.'
