Patriots: A tribute to Tom Brady from the first game

The New England Patriots won’t be waiting long before paying tribute to the greatest player in their history, Tom Brady.

The legendary quarterback, who announced his permanent retirement at the end of last season, is eligible for a ceremony beginning in the opening game of the 2023 season.

“I invited him to the first game so the New England fans could say thank you. This will be the first chapter in a long line of celebrations honoring Tom Brady,” owner Robert Kraft said in an interview with NFL Network.

The Pats’ regular season opener is on September 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, the Patriots will not play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brady’s other former team.

He spent the last three seasons of his illustrious career with the Bucs. The holder of seven Super Bowl rings hung up his football boots for the second time on February 1.

“He’s really looking forward to coming back and seeing our fans,” added Kraft. It’s going to be a big, big celebration.”

Brady will join FOX Sports’ analyst group in fall 2024.
