Bone remains found two weeks ago in a gorge in the Peruvian Andes belong to a 28-year-old Belgian tourist who has been missing since January, Peru prosecutors said on Thursday.
“The prosecutor’s office […] confirmed that the skeletal remains discovered in the Colca riverbed in Huambo (Arequipa region, south-eastern Peru) belong to Belgian tourist Natacha de Crombrugghe.”the institution said in a statement.
The body found on September 21 has been identified “thanks to a DNA test carried out on the victim’s parents”the public prosecutor’s office said without providing any information on the cause of the tourist’s death.
