Peskovs son and the joke of the call to arms

Peskov’s son and the joke of the call to arms for the war in Ukraine | Gramellini’s coffee

With what exaggerated enthusiasm would the son of a Putin hierarch, who has just called for mobilization against the enemy at the gates, react to news of his call to arms? It didn’t take much imagination to find out, but the phone joke organized by a Russian opposition radio station put all doubts to rest. Called into barracks for the next day, young Nikolai Dmitrievic Peskov, son of the boss’s spokesman, immediately made it clear that he was Mr. Peskov, what the heck, and then added that he didn’t really believe the matter worried him, but he certainly would have solved it at a higher level, by calling Popes. The tone betrayed the surprise of those who couldn’t understand that their interlocutor might even have considered treating a powerful person like cannon fodder instead of a legitimate ambush that is dismissed with so many apologies and compliments to parents.

It has been like this since the beginning of time, in all climatic zones and regimes: those who put God, fatherland and family in their mouths are almost always only interested in their own family, and behind every Peskov flower hides a sincerely convinced Marquis del Grillo of his own superiority, which is no longer blood but kinship. She doesn’t know who I am, that is, who I know, because I’m in that I know: not something, but someone.
