A fire in the Matrec sorting center building in the Les Rivières district of Quebec required the intervention of around fifty firefighters on Monday morning.

The Quebec Fire Protection Service (SPCIQ) was called around 7:50 a.m. to extinguish the flames that broke out in the building on Rue Lavoisier.

These were concentrated in the rear part of an organization camp.

Around ten workers had to be evacuated as a preventative measure.

Fortunatly nobody was hurt.

“The limited access to the burned area required the deployment of several teams, which is why around fifty firefighters fought the fire at the height of the fire,” explains Alexandre Lajoie, spokesman for the SPCIQ.

By 9:30 a.m. most of the flames had gone out while the fire department carried out final checks on the fire.

The fire inspector went to the scene to analyze the source of the fire.
However, it was probably a fire of accidental origin.
