Police are arresting a 17-year-old in connection with the Washington Commanders shooting who ran back Brian Robinson in August – with the 23-year-old recovering from his leg and hip injuries to make his NFL debut just SIX WEEKS after the incident
Police have arrested a 17-year-old in connection with the shooting of Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson.
Robinson, 23, was shot in the leg and hip August 28 while exiting a restaurant in near northeast Washington DC. He required surgery on his injuries just a week before he was due to make his NFL debut for the Commanders.
Now, DC Police Chief Robert Contee III said Wednesday they had made an arrest. The person in custody has not been identified but was 16 years old at the time of the shooting.

The 23-year-old made a quick recovery and played in his first NFL game just six weeks later
Contee also said two other suspects are still being sought and police are still working to determine who pulled the trigger, according to the New York Post.
“Enough is enough,” said Contee. “We must keep guns out of the hands of the youth of our city.”
A published police press said Robinson was approached by the suspects, who had handguns and tried to rob him. They fled without taking any of his belongings.
Remarkably, Robinson was back playing football just six weeks later.
In early October, he played in emotional scenes against Tennessee as he finally made his NFL arc.
Commanders shared footage of him running onto the FedEx field via their social media with the caption: “Comeback complete.”
Robinson’s teammates celebrated his return as he took the field to play the Tennessee Titans at FedExField on Oct. 9
After that game, Robinson said, “It felt different.
‘I [had] I’ve put so much work into my entire life just to make it into the NFL and have the opportunity that I had tonight. It is great. i am so blessed
“I’m grateful for the opportunity my coaches gave me today to put me in positions for success. I had to pay them back.’
The Commanders lost to the Titans 21-17 that day but have won their three games since.
Overall, they have a 4-4 record and are fourth in the NFC East. Next up is a game against the Vikings on Sunday.
