Police pursuit in Tracadie: One driver arrested – TVA CIMT CHAU – CIMT-CHAU

Events began around 7 p.m. when the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received a domestic violence call in the Leech area.

Shortly thereafter, police located the suspect vehicle in Tracadie, but the driver refused to stop at their request.

“There was a passenger in the vehicle who signaled to us that she needed help,” said Sergeant Luc Samson.

The police pursued the fugitive for a few kilometers further. At one point there was a collision between a patrol car and the suspect vehicle, which fled the scene.

The intersection of Rue Foster and Rue Louis G Daigle was also closed to traffic until the beginning of the night.

The driver eventually left his vehicle in Saint-Pons.

He was arrested by the police in the entrance area of ​​an acquaintance's apartment.

“I arrived in an SUV and he knocked on my door. He came to my house and I asked him what he wanted. When I noticed the photos circulating on the internet and saw several police cars on my street, I asked him to leave my house. I didn’t want to be involved in that,” said one internet user on condition of anonymity.

The person surrendered peacefully to police.

At the time of writing, the RCMP could not indicate what charges might be brought against the man. It is not known whether the woman was injured.

The investigation is ongoing.
