The 3,902 polling stations, spread across the province’s 125 constituencies, will remain open until 8 p.m.

At the end of an election campaign that will last five weeks, Quebecers will have to elect the 43rd government in Quebec’s history. A total of 881 people are candidates.

The party of outgoing Prime Minister François Legault (Coalition avenir Québec) faces in particular the Liberal Party of Quebec, Québec solidaire, the Parti Québécois and the Conservative Party of Quebec.

Remember that all citizens over the age of 18 must be registered to vote in order to vote.

It is not absolutely necessary to have the notification of registration or the reminder card in hand to cast your vote. However, you must bring one of the accepted forms of ID.

More than 24% of registered voters have already pre-voted to cast their ballot.

staff shortage

Élections Québec have had to redouble their efforts to find electoral staff in recent days, while some Ridings lacked staff.

This was especially true for Mégantic, Mont-Royal-Outremont, Arcy-McGee, L’Assomption, Beauharnois, Hull and Pontiac.

In an interview with TVA Nouvelles on Monday morning, Élections Québec spokeswoman Julie St-Arnaud Drolet assured that “voting will not be affected anywhere”.

“There are about ten trips where recruitment was difficult, and we’ve also had withdrawals, particularly because of COVID-19,” she explained, specifying that Élections Québec is training citizens as “back-ups” to act in the event of a withdrawal that day to have substitute voting.

The poll workers arrive about an hour before the polling stations open and only leave once all the ballot papers have been counted.

According to Ms St-Arnaud Drolet, the first figures should be known around 9 p.m.
