REVEALED: Tom Cruise was photographed in a photoshoot with acclaimed directors David Fincher and Cameron Crowe: 'I want to be in that picture!'

Thanks to post-production, Tom Cruise once secured his place in an epic Hollywood film after it had already been shot without him.

According to Zwick, when he filmed “The Last Samurai” with Ed Zwick in 2002, the actor had an initial photo of Zwick, David Fincher and Cameron Crowe created using Photoshop.

The “Blood Diamond” aide recalled the hilarious anecdote in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday, saying directors Fincher and Crowe stopped by Warner Bros. to pitch Cruise for upcoming projects.

“The great thing about the story is that the unit photographer saw us all together and said, ‘Hey, can I just take a picture of you?’ So there’s a picture of all of us – except Tom was called away to do something to do,” he explained.

'And then [Cruise] I heard about the picture later, saw it and said, 'I want to be in that picture!' So we photographed Tom and then Photoshopped him into the picture.'

According to Zwick, when he was filming

According to Zwick, when he was filming “The Last Samurai” with Ed Zwick in 2002, the actor had a snapshot photoshopped by Zwick and directors David Fincher and Cameron Crowe

Zwick noted that he was surprised to see the famous filmmakers – including Steven Spielberg – browsing around the stage built for “The Last Samurai.”

“People wanted to see this old Hollywood recreation [19th century Tokyo] Street,” he said. “And at some point I happen to turn around. And it's almost like a joke – you know, there's Cameron Crowe. There's Steven Spielberg. There's David Fincher.

“And I’m sitting in mine [director] chair, and they're all behind me. It's like, “Oh – hey.” I didn't want to feel too insecure about it. But whoa.'

The Last Samurai was released in 2003 and received mixed critical reception.

Although the film was praised for its visual spectacle and Tom Cruise's performance, some critics expressed concerns about cultural inaccuracies.

However, the film was successful at the box office, grossing over $456 million worldwide and becoming a commercially viable venture.

The hilarious photo anecdote follows news that Tom has made things “official” with his new lover Elsina Khayrova.

The actor is said to have become increasingly close to the glamorous Russian socialite and regularly spent nights at her London flat, friends told Web.

He and Khayrova, 36, both attended a dinner gala in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity at the five-star Raffles Hotel last week.

A source told Web that the couple was now official: “It is known in Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now a couple.”

“They have become very close over the last few weeks but are very careful not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy.”

The person continued: “Tom stayed at Elsina's apartment, which as you can imagine is a very nice place.” “They enjoy spending time together and do a lot of things that normal couples do despite their wealth.”

The source revealed that the pair also dined privately at a number of exclusive London restaurants and enjoyed strolls through Hyde Park in disguise.
