Russia asks China for military food aid amid war with Ukraine: report

Russia has turned to China for military and food aid as Moscow continues its invasion of Ukraine.

Two sources familiar with the matter told CNN that Russia has requested pre-packaged, non-perishable military meals, including what is known in the US as “ready-to-eat meals.”

One of the sources told the publication that China may agree to comply with the request because it is non-lethal support, and such a situation will provoke the West.

A Western official and a US diplomat also told CNN that the US has information indicating that China has expressed its willingness to offer military and financial assistance to Russia.

However, it remains unclear whether China will actually provide this assistance, the publication reports.

The inquiries raise questions related to Russia’s overall readiness for an invasion, as well as logistical problems that experts say are hindering Russia’s offensive progress.

Open source reports previously reported that Russian troops broke into grocery stores looking for food as the military ran out of certain supplies, CNN added.
