The incident happened around 10:45 am on Saturday morning on a forest path located about 15 kilometers from the Chemin des Quatre Milles. The victim was part of a group of three snowmobilers at the time of the tragedy.
“The first information received suggests that it would have collided with a tree. He was transported to the hospital center with serious injuries,” explains Hélène St-Pierre, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).
The 50-year-old’s death was confirmed shortly thereafter. His identity is expected to be revealed later Sunday.
In the meantime, a police officer trained in collision investigation was on site to precisely determine the causes and circumstances of the accident.
At the moment, no particular hypothesis has been put forward by the authorities.
