Sam Quek reveals she will represent Britain at the Eurovision Song Contest

Sam Quek has revealed she’s considering representing the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest while discussing her successful career and ‘mother guilt’.

The former Olympic hockey player, 34, admitted just a day before the 2023 grand final that she couldn’t say no to taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest.

In a lengthy chat with Web, Sam also opened up about how she’d been thinking about joining Strictly Come Dancing and gave an insight into her family life.

Speaking about the Eurovision Song Contest, the TV star admitted she was tempted to enter the legendary song contest and would sing a Spice Girls number if she could perform.

When asked if she would ever represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest, Sam exclusively told Web: “Who wouldn’t say yes to that?” How could anyone say no?

“When you’re from Liverpool you always go to karaoke, whether you’re out with your friends or even with family at Christmas.”

“I would definitely do some kind of Spice Girls act.”

Although Sam wanted to take part, she admitted she didn’t quite know how big Eurovision was before hosting the turquoise carpet at this year’s competition, which she described as a “huge career highlight”.

Sam went on to reveal that she wouldn’t turn down the chance to perform on Strictly Coming Dancing should the opportunity arise.

When asked if she would enter the BBC competition, she replied, “If it came at the right time.” If it could be done, I can’t lie. It’s the only other thing I would do [after I’m A Celebrity].’

She also gave an insight into her family life as the mother of her two-year-old daughter Molly and her 14-month-old son Isaac, whom she shares with her husband Tom Mairs.

The TV personality opened up about balancing work and motherhood, admitting that she doesn’t “need” to work, but “chooses” to because she’s passionate about her job.

She admitted she would feel “mom guilt” whether she was working or not, and gushed about her “supportive” husband Tom, whom she married in 2018.

She said, “Even if I were a stay-at-home mom, I would still have motherhood guilt.” I felt like I was too attached to the kids. Every mother feels guilty in one way or another.

“I’m so fortunate to be in a position where I don’t really have to work, but I choose to work.”

“I’m so fortunate to have a supportive family and an amazing husband who is 100% supportive of my decision to work.” You are truly amazing.

“I don’t have to work, I choose to work.” Work makes me a better mom. I love what I do and I find it so fulfilling which means I’m happy which in turn means my kids are happy and my husband is happy. It works out.

“I spend so much time with the kids when I’m not working and I love being with them, but I find the balance between working, making a job enjoyable and also being a mom is that is best for us.”

It’s not the first time Sam has spoken out about “mum guilt” as she recently opened up about her struggles as she returned to work eight weeks after giving birth to her son.

She gave birth to her son two weeks early and was rushed to hospital where surgeons performed an emergency C-section after she was bleeding uncontrollably.

After two months, Sam returned to work and admitted the “mother guilt” was real and she wished she could spend more time with her two young children.

The ‘The Question Of Sport’ star told Neu! magazine, “I get a lot of guilt about my mom.” You’re only young for so long.

“I’m looking at photos, mostly of Zac, and I can’t remember the first two months and then I went back to work eight weeks after his child was born.”

Sam fell pregnant with her second child a little earlier than she and her partner expected, and said the couple “definitely have their hands full” now.

The athlete previously said OK! Magazine: “I think being a family of four is pretty surreal in my opinion.”

“I’m enjoying every minute of it, but it’s so different than just having a baby and being a family of three.” “We definitely have our hands full.”
