SBT: Silvio Santos cancels return to the station after 7 months without recording Splash

The boss wanted to come back, but he gave up! Silvio Santos, aged 92, away from SBT recordings since last September, would return to SBT studios tomorrow but pulled out at the last minute and notified the team later in the afternoon. He would record an edition of Jogo dos Pontinhos.

The reason for the withdrawal was not disclosed to anyone on the team. For the time being there is no confirmation of a new date for the return of the “owner of the trunk” to the channel.

Sources heard by the column say Silvio no longer wants to be obliged to record the program weekly and will attend when he’s in the mood and feeling good. The official Sunday order at the station must follow Patricia Abravanel.

Tomorrow he would be recording accompanied by two SBT employees.

According to columnist Ricardo Feltrin, Silvio Santos returned from the United States last Saturday “approachable, cheerful, talkative and very active”. He was the one asking to be allowed back on the station.

According to Feltrin, the owner and moderator of SBT spent yesterday talking (by phone) with José Roberto Maciel (President of Grupo Silvio Santos); and with the daughters Daniela (Vice President of SBT) and Renata (President of the Board of Directors) as well as other executives. He asked for numbers, future plans of the companies and data to better understand what is happening within the group.
