Smile Star Sosie Bacon Continues Certain Horror Movie Legacy – /movie

In Ryan Scott’s /film interview with Sosie Bacon, the actress discussed the challenge of going from being number three or four on the call list to starring in Smile in her previous film and television projects. I admit that I didn’t even know she was the daughter of Sedgwick and Bacon until this film. For example, I had seen some of her supporting actress work on HBO’s Mare of Easttown, but I just chalked her face up with that of another recognizable character actor like you see on TV all the time.

“Smile” puts Bacon at the forefront and shows that – while still upholding the family legacy – she’s managed to carve her own path to horror stardom, enough to drown out the “Nepo Baby” cries from social media outlets. Preemptively suppressing trolls (they might be worthy of a horror movie of their own, but that’s another story).

Here is the official synopsis for “Smile” via Paramount Pictures:

after dr After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) experiences frightening events that she cannot explain. As overwhelming terror begins to take over her life, Rose must confront her troubling past in order to survive and escape her terrifying new reality.

“Smile” is in theaters now.
