Spain: Second day of debate on trust in Feijòo begins Latest News Ansa.it

With the intervention of Mertxe Aizpurua, representative of the radical Basque party Bildu, the second day of the debate on trust in the leader of the PP, Alberto Nunez Feijòo, has just begun in the Congress Hall.

The first vote, which requires an absolute majority, is expected to take place around midday. Therefore, in accordance with the provisions of Article 99 of the Constitution, the times provided for in the Charter begin from today: if no candidate succeeds in forming a government in the two months following this vote, King Felipe VI. dissolve the chambers and call new elections.

However, if Feijòo does not reach the 176 votes needed to enter government today, as is almost certain, there will be a second vote on Friday in which the candidate for prime minister will instead need a simple majority in parliament. If this vote also fails, the king can appoint Pedro Sanchez, who will have the opportunity to play his cards in a new parliamentary session.
