A suspected serial child predator was brought to safety by police a few weeks ago, but they believe the 22-year-old young man could have caused even more victims.
Christopher Messier Courville, of Sorel-Tracy, was arrested by Sûreté du Québec investigators three days before Christmas.
He is suspected of having committed several crimes of a sexual nature against victims under the age of 18.
Messier Courville was charged with sexual assault, false imprisonment, criminal harassment, assault, extortion and threats.
The crimes he is accused of allegedly occurred between June 2021 and December 2023 in Sorel-Tracy while the defendant was in “contact with underage victims,” according to authorities.
“The investigation tends to suggest that the suspect may have caused additional casualties,” the Sûreté du Québec said in a news release.
In addition, the structure coordinated by the Sûreté du Québec was put in place to manage investigations into serial crimes.
Anyone who may have been a victim of Christopher Messier Courville or has information about him is asked to contact the Sûreté du Québec Crime Information Center at 1 800 659-4264.
