At an event held by Israeli groups this Sunday, the 28th, to commemorate the six million deaths caused by the Holocaust against the Jewish people during the Second World War, the Governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republican), and the Mayor of Ricardo Nunes (MDB), the capital of São Paulo, condemned Hamas's terrorist attacks against Jews last year.
Nunes, who is running for reelection this year, said all Brazilian political leaders must take a stand on Hamas. “The great mission of the entire Jewish community is 'Never again.' On October 7th we witnessed this very serious act. Our country's political leaders must make it clear who supports Hamas and who fights against Hamas. “Hamas is a terrorist group,” Nunes said.

“I would like to reiterate and reiterate the lines that have been said here. And leave respect for the Jewish community, our clear and firm positioning in favor of Israel. And that you can count on me, on our city, and we can say: 'Never again,'” said the mayor about the Holocaust and the current moment at the event organized by the Brazilian Israeli Confederation (Conib), the Israeli Federation of the State of São Paulo (Fisesp) and the Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP).
Today, 136 people are still under the control of Hamas terrorists. Politicians and Jewish leaders called for the hostages to be released.
During the event, a young man from the Jewish community in São Paulo explained that many are currently refraining from wearing Jewish clothing and accessories for fear of attacks. Governor Tarcísio stated that the state would provide security to the Jewish community.
“We can’t offer anything other than no. No to terror, no to Hamas, no to Hezbollah, no to antiSemitism. Nobody will have to hide a shirt, nobody will have to hide that they are Jewish. We won't.” “Allow it. We will guarantee the safety of the Jewish community in São Paulo,” he said.
