Ten hybrid proposals for Periscope Theater’s 2022-2023 season

For the 2022-2023 season, the Théâtre Périscope offers a 100% Quebec program, varied and interdisciplinary with dance, music and video.

The season, entirely conceived by Marie-Hélène Gendreau, who left Périscope last winter, the ten pieces and three laboratories on display have received the approval of Samuel Corbeil and Gabrielle Ferron, co-artistic directors in office since January.

“We are excited to unveil this season, which we believe to be ours,” Samuel Corbeil said during an interview hours before the season’s reveal to the public.

Gabrielle Ferron indicates that the 2022-2023 season will only feature Quebec creators. An important element after the last two years shattered by the pandemic.

Under the name “We the Living” theatrical objects are shown that promote resilience. It will bring out the beauty of being together when it all falls apart. We celebrate living together and explore the question of what remains alive in grief.

It will explore, in a variety of forms, what unites us and what makes the human experience unique.

“This hybridity of forms testifies to the great artistic freedom that is one of Periscope’s missions,” emphasized Samuel Corbeil.

The two co-directors are betting that customers will return to Periscope after closures and warnings. A series of activities will be organized throughout the weeks to bring the theater on rue Crémazie to life.

“We don’t have a subscription formula and we have a bar area where you can do anything. There are other ways to reach the public,” Gabrielle Fillion pointed out.

Anne-Marie Olivier presents her creation Maurice from October 25th to November 12th. A play that tells the story of an aphasic man who suffered a stroke and went into a nine-day coma. A man who struggles every day to exchange ideas with people, to talk about love, politics, religion or quantum physics. Anne-Marie Olivier will share the stage with Michèle Motard.
