Two classics in the history of cinema feed fans today: It's Always Fine, a great musical by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen, and The Night of the Demon, one of the wonders filmed by Jacques Tourneur for RKO. La 1 will broadcast live the first leg of the Copa del Rey semi-final between Atlético de Madrid and Athletic at the Metropolitan Stadium. For its part, La 2 offers the Gala for the nomination of the Queen of Carnival in Tenerife. You can also watch a new part of the documentary series On Guard: Women Against Crime at Cuatro.

“The weather is always good”

8:15 p.m., TCM

The Weather is Always Fine by Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen

It's always nice weather. USA, 1955 (100 minutes). Directors: Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen. Cast: Gene Kelly, Cyd Charysse, Dan Dailey, Dolores Gray.

The third film to unite Gene Kelly and Stanley Donen behind the camera, after A Day in New York and Singin' in the Rain, remains an inescapable masterpiece with an eternal classic feel. Three former colleagues meet again after ten years and discover, to their regret, that they no longer have anything in common. “It's Always Good Weather” is adorned with a cascade of great musical numbers filmed in magnificent Cinemascope, but also raises themes such as the inevitability of the passage of time or the transience of friendship, without a hint of pretension. That is, life itself.

“Night of the Demon”

10 p.m., Movistar Classics

The Night of the Demon by Jacques Tourneur

Night of the Demon USA, 1957 (95 minutes). Director: Jacques Tourneur. Cast: Dana Andrews, Peggy Cummings, Niall MacGinnis.

With the help of producer Val Lewton, the great tourer delivered three masterpieces of the horror genre for RKO in the 1940s: “The Panther Woman”, “I Walked with a Zombie” and “The Leopard Man”. But the maestro had not yet exhausted his reserves and returned to his special fantastic universe almost 20 years later, this time at Columbia. In his hands, the unreal always comes from suggestion and his camera only allows a glimpse of magical and terrible worlds. “Night of the Demon,” one of the highlights of his style, follows the steps of a scientist who attends a witchcraft convention to investigate the possible reality of the devil. And so the story explodes thanks to the gaze of an unrepeatable author and is full of shadows, ellipses that suggest horror.
