The Cadiz Civil Guard arrested this Monday, during a police check, the suspected perpetrator of the death of the 37-year-old corporal of the Regulares of Ceuta, who was shot dead on October 17 in the El Príncipe neighborhood of the autonomous city. The detainee, IMA and nicknamed Laika, was the lieutenant of a criminal named Piolín, head of one of two criminal groups fighting to control drug trafficking in the city, police said. Laika was arrested trying to escape from a Civil Guard checkpoint with two other people, first arresting his two accomplices and, after an intensive search, the suspected perpetrator of the murder.

After noticing the police check, those already arrested threw a bag containing several grams of hashish. The arrest took place on Monday afternoon. The Civil Guard had set up a checkpoint for people and vehicles on the A-381 motorway towards Jerez de la Frontera, which passes through the municipality of Medina Sidonia. Agents observed the driver of a vehicle driving unusually slowly. When asked for his identification, he accelerated abruptly and one of the vehicle’s three occupants threw three small bags out the window, Armed Institute sources said on Tuesday.
As soon as the car entered the control device, it accelerated sharply and made a fast flight towards Jerez de la Frontera. A civil guard then used blockade equipment to prevent the escape from taking effect. Because of the violence, he was initially unable to stop the vehicle.
The Civil Guards then began following the car until the driver of the escaped vehicle stopped abruptly in the middle of the freeway. The Civil Guards had to quickly avoid the car being pursued and then pull it off the road to avoid colliding with the other cars that were in circulation at the time.

The three occupants then began to flee on foot, jumping into the ditch and crossing a metal fence. Then they ran across the field and tried to hide in the undergrowth. However, two of them were immediately intercepted while resisting their capture vigorously.
The third of them was caught after a race that lasted more than 40 minutes, having lost his shirt and a mobile phone during his flight, and at that time entered the inside of a farm and looked for a phone with which to ask for help . Those arrested were taken to Medina Sidonia Civil Guard offices and the vehicle was removed from the road using a crane. Once identified, they turned out to be MCN, SAEHH and IMA, aka Laika, all residents of Ceuta and with numerous records for all types of crimes. From the latter there are five search and arrest orders.
