Disney and Lucasfilm have released a new trailer for the third season of The Mandalorian, coming to Disney+ on March 1st. The series should explore other sides of the universe war of stars that have never been delved into liveaction productions, such as the history of the planet Mandalore and the gap between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.

In addition, there are still some surprises, such as the appearance of some Jedi, showing that the idea is to bring the series’ plot closer to the franchise’s overall mythology. At the same time, the new episodes should show why 2023 is the year of Pedro Pascal and put his relationship with little baby Yoda more in the foreground.

5. The Mandalore diaspora

The trailer is already starting, giving a hint of what will be the main plot of the entire series: the diaspora of the Mandalorian people. This topic was already mentioned in the previous season when the story of the purge of Mandalore was presented and how the Empire’s attack on the planet caused this race to spread aimlessly across the universe.

Which is The Mandalorian now proposes that Din Djarin must take a leading role in rebuilding this people. And that’s going to be an odd dynamic, since it has to be coupled with a much more personal journey for the character forgiveness for breaking his vow to never take his mask off.

The trailer shows the hero surrounded by other Mandalorians and delivering a somewhat inspirational speech reminiscent of that tour. And it’s odd, because this is a role the character turned down at the end of season two when he discovered the Darksaber’s importance in the imagination of the people of Mandalore.

And while the video doesn’t point anything along those lines, this whole storyline involving the emergence of Din Djarin as the leader of this devastated planet was meant to once again pit him against BoKatan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff), who wanted to be the epicenter of this reconstruction.

Regardless of the simple fact that The Mandalorian Showing more about the planet Mandalore, its past and the realities of the present is already expanding the universe war of stars at an impressive level. Until then, what little we know about it was only shown in animation and it’s a very rich and interesting part of the story.

4. Din Djarin’s personal crusade

Another point the trailer emphasizes is that it comes as no great surprise, the protagonist’s personal journey. As already mentioned in Boba Fett’s bookDin Djarin was expelled from his sect for removing his mask in front of other living beings, and in order to receive forgiveness for his sins he must return to Mandalore.

It is not yet clear how this journey to the planet will bring about such redemption, and it is very likely that this will set it on the path of rebuilding and guiding these scattered people across the galaxy. Precisely for this reason, it is very likely that we will see more of those moments in which the protagonist’s faith is confronted with much more earthly problems.

A curious detail of the trailer is that it implies that Din Djarin is teaching little Grogu to be a Mandalorian within that more religious alignment. There’s nothing really concrete on that front, but it would be fun to see Baby Yoda end the season with a mini mask.

3. The Lurking Danger

Despite all the fantastic sound The Mandalorian Built up over the past two seasons, everything suggests that the new episodes of the series should bring a much more serious and political storyline that runs parallel to Din Djarin and Grogu’s fatherson relationship. The trailer talks about “something dangerous going on out there,” suggesting political troubles will return war of stars.

The line is voiced by Carson Teva (Paul SunHyung Lee), the Rebel Alliance member who has crossed paths with the Mandalorian a number of times. And it appears to be referring to the emergence of a new force in the galaxy that is beginning to trouble the former rebels. Not coincidentally, when he says this, we get a glimpse of the scientist who wanted to study Grogu in season one.

This leads to believe that The Mandalorian should show more of the emergence of the First Order as this extremist, conservative force bent on reclaiming power and prestige from the Empire. It is worth remembering that the series takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakensexactly when the villains of the new trilogy start to organize themselves.

Teva says this new threat is becoming so big that unless action is taken now, it will be difficult to deal with. It’s the kind of language that fits what we know about the First Order and reflects all of the political context, which has always been very strong war of stars and that became even clearer after the success of Andor.

2. Jedi in action

The scene where the Jedi appear with lightsabers in hand has a strong possibility of being just a flashback to Order 66 and the rise of the Empire, but you can’t help but wonder how those memories fit in The Mandalorian.

If the idea for the new season is to talk more about the planet Mandalore and the drama of its inhabitants, talking more about the Jedi seems a bit incoherent. Unless, of course, this emergence of the First Order is accompanied by revelations about the Sith being part of it. Will we finally learn more about Supreme Leader Snoke?

Finally, the trailer ends showing what all the fans wanted to see in it The Mandalorian: Little Baby Yoda will finally show his mastery of the Force. The video ends with Grogu using his quasiJedi abilities against an enemy and without the problems he faced in previous seasons.

Until then, using the Force was something that was too much for the little rubber alien and he kept falling asleep or not being able to control the Force properly. However, this time we see him throwing the opponent with much more ease and already going up again.

Although he gave up training with Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammil). Boba Fett’s bookit looks like he’s left the Jedi path with a few new tricks up his sleeve.
