The building was built in 1728 to circumvent the country’s marriage laws. After 280 years, it was converted into a hotel by the city planning association of Amberg, Bavaria.

According to the hotel’s official website, an “ingenious groom” spotted a courtyard between two buildings and decided to buy it. In the area he built walls and roofs just to please the judges. The house changed hands frequently, allowing new marriages to take place. 👰🏻🤵🏻
