The New Jersey Devils have reportedly acquired forward Timo Meier from San Jose Sharks.
This was announced by the Sportsnet network on Sunday. At the moment, we don’t know what training in California would have yielded in return for the 26-year-old skater.
Meier was seen as the prime target ahead of the March 3 trading close.
The Swiss ice hockey player is currently experiencing the best season of his career. He has 31 goals and 21 assists for 52 points in 57 games so far in 2022-23.
Meier could become a restricted free agent in July. According to the TSN network, the Devils would have been open to the idea of acquiring the forward without any guarantees that he would sign a contract extension.
