The projections with partially counted votes, on Tuesday evening, show that Donald Trump defeated Nikki Haley in the New Hampshire Republican primary. The former president is paving the way for his bid for a second term in November's United States presidential election.
“I want to congratulate Donald Trump,” Haley told her supporters after the television networks quickly announced the result. However, the candidate promised to continue fighting. “This race is far from over,” she said.
The next Republican election is scheduled for February 3rd. It will be the primary in South Carolina, Haley's home state and where she was elected governor.
Haley warned Republicans on November 5 that making Trump the nominee would be a “win for Biden.” Trump has been seeking revenge against Biden since his election defeat in November 2020, which he never acknowledged. His determination is such that he ensures that he is not hindered by the four criminal cases and several civil cases pending against him. “Everyone will vote for me again. “Biden is the worst president in the history of this country,” he said hours before polls closed.
Trump, 77, has a loyal following and won the Jan. 15 Iowa caucuses by a wide margin over Ron DeSantis, who dropped out of the race despite finishing second while Haley finished third.
After their victory this Tuesday, the Democrats are already assuming that the TrumpBiden duel will take place in November. “The electiondenying and freedomdefying MAGA movement has completed its takeover of the party,” Biden campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodríguez said in a statement. MAGA is the acronym for the Trumpist motto “Make America Great Again”.
