Two men freed after German student’s death

The two men who were arrested yesterday after the fatal attack on their way to school in Illerkirchberg, Germany, are now free again. A spokesman for the Ulm Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed this to dpa today.

The suspicion against the two men was not proven, so they could be released again. The alleged suspect is, however, invoking his right to refuse to testify.

The Eritrean man attacked two girls on their way to school yesterday and presumably seriously injured them with a knife. One of the victims, a 14-year-old girl, later died in hospital.

There is still no information about the reason. During the course of the day it should be known whether an arrest warrant will be issued against the man. The spokesperson said he currently had no evidence of any mental impairment.
