British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak volunteered at a homeless shelter over the Christmas weekend, but video of a man talking to whom he served food drew sharp criticism from his political opposition.
Sunak was helping out at an animal shelter in London on Friday, providing food to those in need. He’s seen handing out generous helpings while engaging in small talk with a man who said his name was Dean.
After confirming this wasn’t his first visit to the shelter, Dean asked Sunak if he was “helping the economy”. Sunak said that’s “exactly” what he wants to do. Dean is heard saying that this is “best for business”, to which Sunak asks if Dean works for a company.
“No, I’m homeless,” Dean replied. “I’m actually a homeless person.”

Dean then said he was interested in business, particularly finance. Sunak then commented that he used to work in finance and then spoke about how many finance jobs have been relocated to other parts of the UK, mainly from London.
“Is that something you’d like to address?” asked Sunak.
