VIDEO | Assault while leaving bars in Sainte-Foy; A 25-year-old man was arrested –

A 25-year-old man, well-known in police circles, was arrested after an armed attack outside bars in Quebec's Sainte-Foy district early Thursday morning.

At around 2:40 a.m., the Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) was called to La Pyramide de Sainte-Foy for a “serious disturbance.”

Images taken by a witness outside Le Plywood cafe bar, a venue frequented by several local students, show that a violent fight broke out between individuals.

“Criss is getting fucked by a knife man!” we can hear on the video that was transmitted to the Journal. However, we do not know the reasons that led to the scuffle at this point in time.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but fortunately no one was seriously injured. The main victim in this case, a 27-year-old, suffered only minor lacerations.

Further arrests possible

A 25-year-old suspect was handcuffed on charges of assault with a weapon, assault and probation violation. He remained detained while awaiting an appearance at the Quebec courthouse on Thursday.

This is a person known to the police. The latter has served several prison sentences since he came of age, including for aggravated assault, threats, burglary, negligent use of a firearm, arms trafficking and identity fraud.

However, the investigation is ongoing, specifies SPVQ spokeswoman Sandra Dion and points out that more people could be arrested in this case.

Since several people were on site during the altercation, the police still need to meet several witnesses.
