Pope Francis said in a recent interview that “homosexuality is not a crime” but a “human condition”. “We are all children of God and God loves us just as we are,” the Pope said. Watch the video at the bottom of the page.

The Holy Father begins his speech with a comment on countries that condemn homosexuality, including the use of the death penalty. He claims that most nations that have this as a policy do so in a covert way, criminalizing people with “unnatural attitudes.”

The head of the Catholic Church thinks it’s unfair to criminalize someone because of their sexual orientation. “Here in the audience I actually receive such groups of people. We are all children of God. And God loves us the way we are and each of us fights for strength for our dignity. Being gay is not a crime,” Francisco said.

Responding to those who say it is a sin, the pope said, “‘It is not a crime, but it is a sin.’ All right, but first, let’s distinguish a sin from a crime. It is also a sin not to have love for one another, and how are you? Every man and woman should have a window in their lives where they can pour out their hope and see the dignity of God. And being gay is not a crime. It is a human condition,” the Pope concluded.
