What happened to Luis Tejada, the historic top scorer from Panama who won a final against Alianza?

The ‘Pana’ Tejada is an idol of Juan Aurich. He achieved the historic national title in 2011; he scored goals for Universitario, Sport Boys and Pirata FC; and played the 2018 World Cup in Russia with his team.

Luis Tejada He is one of the best foreign strikers to come to Peruvian football in recent years. The Panamanian first arrived in Peru in 2010 to play for Juan Aurich, a side he would become an idol of and who would also go on to win the national championship in 2011 for the first time in their history. The “Matador” is the historic goalscorer for the Panamanian national team and had the opportunity to play in the 2018 World Cup when he was part of Sport Boys.

Tejada had a stint in Mexican football after leaving Aurich in 2012 and returned in 2014 to wear César Vallejo’s jersey. Luis Tejada and his achievements in Peruvian football

Luis Tejada has shown himself to be an equal striker since his first year in Peru. With Aurich he qualified for the South American Cup in 2011 and established himself as an idol and national champion in the following season. The ‘Matador’ was the championship’s top scorer in 2011 and played with Ciclón for the Libertadores the following year. In mid-2012, he switched to Mexican football to play for Toluca.

Tejada’s impressive testimony is that he was the top scorer for his team in the nine seasons he played in Peruvian football. In 2012, he didn’t even finish the year due to his departure for Mexico, but left 15 points. Between 2010 and 2012 and between 2014 and 2019 he scored a total of 144 goals in domestic tournaments alone. Despite his age, he was called up by “Bolillo” Gómez for the 2018 World Cup, playing minutes against Belgium and Tunisia.

What happened to Luis Tejada?

After leaving Pirata FC in 2019, Luis Tejada returned to his country to play for Universitario. He then progressed through Plaza Amador, Herrera, San Francisco and finally in 2022 Potros del Este, which was his last team to date. In early 2023 there were rumors of his possible retirement from professional football at the age of 40, however Tejada himself has not officially confirmed anything.

The ‘Pana’ recently published on his Instagram that his Tejada, Machado, Quintero Foundation, which he founded in 2018 with ‘Chiquitín’ and Adolfo Machado to help poor children, has signed an agreement with the Yo Te Creo Foundation . He also went on an outing with other soccer teammates. In this way it is not excluded that we can see ‘Diente de Oro’ in the squares for another year.
