The 66-year-old man was found with serious injuries in his home in the Ruhr city on Tuesday night, police announced on Thursday. The police and the Public Prosecutor's Office are now awaiting information from witnesses.
Due to the unclear initial situation and serious injuries, the police set up a homicide squad. Neighbors became concerned about the resident because of a dog's persistent barking in the house and called the police. Arriving emergency services heard moaning coming from the house and gained access with the help of firefighters. The 66-year-old man was found in a life-threatening condition.
